Ahead of this year’s Eid-al-Adha celebration, a truck and two mini-buses loaded with rams were spotted at the National Assembly complex on Thursday.
The truck, which reportedly belongs to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) with registration number IMMIGRATION 48-04IS, and the two white-painted buses arrived at about 1:55 p.m., parking in front of the “White House.”
However, it remains unclear which organization owns the two buses.
One of the motor boys told Premium Times that they were ordered by one of their bosses to transport the rams to the National Assembly.
He did not disclose the name of the ‘boss’ or the intended recipients of the rams.
Muslim faithful traditionally slaughter rams as sacrifices for the celebration of
Eid-al-Adha, which falls on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah in the Islamic calendar.
Recall that Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, declared Sunday, 16 June, as the day of Eid-al-Adha this year.
It is believed that the rams delivered to the National Assembly will be distributed for the celebration of the festival.
With the worsening food inflation crisis in the country, ram is selling at unaffordable prices of N150,000 and N200,000 to most working class Nigerians.
