Finidi George has reportedly stepped down from his position as the coach of the Super Eagles.

According to The Punch, this was made known by ex-Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye in a post on X.com on Saturday.

He wrote, “News just in. Finidi George #FinidiGeorge_FG has resigned from his #NGSuperEagles manager position.”

MUK TV reports that relationship had strained between the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and the embattled former Ajax winger following the eagles’ poor performances under his watch for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and South Africa and Benin Republic.

Recall that the football authorities announced plans to hire a foreign Technical Adviser for the senior nationa team.

However, the decision doesn’t sit down well with George, 53,who took the reins after Jose Peseiro’s contract ended in February, having served as his assistant for 20 months.

MUK TV gathers that the former Enyimba coach has vehemently opposed the NFF’s proposal, a decision that could have influenced his resignation.
