Honourable Ginger Onwusibe, a federal lawmaker representing the Labour Party, marked his one-year anniversary in the National Assembly by empowering his constituents with agricultural seedlings and seeds.
The empowerment initiative took place at a ceremony held in Isialangwa, where Hon. Ginger Onwusibe distributed cassava stems, yam seedlings, maize seeds, and cucumber to beneficiaries from the community.
Each recipient received approximately 10 cassava cuttings, two yam seedlings, and small nylon bags containing maize seeds, aimed at supporting local farming efforts in the constituency.
Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, known for his commitment to grassroots development, emphasized the importance of agriculture in enhancing food security and economic sustainability within the community.
However, the lawmaker’s initiative has sparked a lively debate on social media platforms. Many Nigerians have expressed concerns over the impact of providing only a limited number of cassava cuttings to farmers, questioning its potential effect on overall agricultural productivity.
Prior to his current role at the National Assembly, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe served as a lawmaker representing Isialangwa North in the Abia State House of Assembly under the platform of the PDP from 1999 to 2023.
Efforts to reach Hon. Ginger Onwusibe for comments on the empowerment program were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
The distribution of agricultural seedlings and seeds underscores Hon. Ginger Onwusibe’s commitment to supporting local farmers and promoting agricultural development within his constituency.
This initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and empower rural communities across Nigeria.
