Former Senate President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, has finalized plans to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after months of media speculation.
MUK TV can authoritatively report that, barring any last-minute change of plan, the former lawmaker will officially announce his membership in the APC today, Saturday, July 13th, 2024.
This comes after he held a recent closed-door meeting in Abuja with Abdullahi Ganduje, the APC National Chairman.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Mr. Francis Nwaze, a former media aide to former Governor Dave Umahi and now Minister of Works, said, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim will make news tomorrow [today] for affirming political correctness.”
Senator Anyim, who served as Nigeria’s SGF under former Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, was a member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a platform through which he was elected into the Senate from the Ebonyi South Senatorial District in 1999.
However, he was accused of anti-party activities during the 2023 elections in his home state and was subsequently suspended by the party.
Anyim had since been romancing politically with Umahi, whose candidate he supported during the governorship election, leading to speculation he was going to dump the PDP.
