Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has urged Nigerians to refrain from participating in the planned protest regarding the ongoing economic crisis.
He emphasized that as the giant of Africa, Nigeria’s nationals should not be seen carrying placards and lining the streets in protest, which he implied is more characteristic of smaller African countries.
Kalu’s statement comes amidst growing public discontent and calls for demonstrations to address economic hardships faced by citizens.
While speaking during plenary, Kalu who admitted the economic hardship in the country however appealed to the citizenry to be patient with the federal government.
He emphasized that the solution to the economic challenges of the country is not found in the protests but by supporting the policies of government.
