The Borno Police Command has uncovered six projectile grenades allegedly left behind by terrorists in the Ajilari Cross area of Maiduguri. Commissioner of Police Yusuf Lawal revealed the discovery on Saturday during a situation report to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The explosives were found on Friday, prompting the deployment of the Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) team from Base 13. The team determined that the grenades contained incendiary chemicals. After a thorough screening, the projectiles were safely recovered, ensuring the area was secure.
In a separate incident, 20 suspects were apprehended for burning tires and inciting disturbances in Maiduguri. They are currently undergoing interrogation and investigation for transparent prosecution,” Lawal added.
Lawal also reported another violent incident on the same day in Bassam Galomari Village, Gubio II Ward. Fulani herdsmen, grazing cattle, entered a local farm, leading to a confrontation. When the farm owner tried to remove the herdsmen, they resisted, and one of them attacked the farmer, severing both his hands. The victim was quickly transported to Gubio Hospital and later referred to Maiduguri Hospital for further treatment.
Security agencies have been directed to address the situation and work towards resolving the crisis. Lawal assured that security forces remain on high alert, committed to maintaining public safety and preventing further incidents.
