The Bola Tinubu administration’s newly acquired luxury Airbus A330 for presidential use has officially arrived in Abuja.

According to Sahara Reporters, the aircraft landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Sunday evening, following its departure from EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg in France at 4:16 pm, touching down in Abuja at 8:29 pm.

This development comes shortly after the release of the aircraft, which was one of three presidential jets recently seized by a French court over a dispute involving the Ogun State Government and a Chinese firm.

Recall that  Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited, the Chinese company involved, announced the release of one of the jets, citing it as a goodwill gesture in anticipation of President Bola Tinubu’s upcoming meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The company recognised the significance of the aircraft for the diplomatic engagement and acted accordingly to facilitate the meeting.

The plane, assigned tail registration VP-CAC (msn 1053) and bearing the seal of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, was reportedly ready for delivery.

In it’s features, the newly acquired aircraft, an ACJ330-200, registered as 5N-FGA, boasts luxurious amenities including a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, an office, a conference and dining room, as well as first-class and economy seating at the rear.

The Nigerian government reportedly plans to spend over N150 billion on this new presidential jet, which has caused controversy.

The proposed expenditure has been heavily scrutinized given the nation’s ongoing economic challenges and record-high inflation.

The Airbus A330 is known for its new-generation engines, aerodynamic advancements, and other improvements that offer unparalleled comfort and efficiency.

It is designed specifically for the VIP and private markets, delivering top-end luxury and range.
