The Court of Appeal in Abuja has ordered former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to present himself for arraignment, following his evasion of arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In addition to this directive, the court has restrained Bello from taking any further action in his legal battles until he complies with the order to appear in court.
The appellate court also nullified a previous judgment by the Kogi State High Court, which had been in Bello’s favour.
Bello has been on the run since the EFCC attempted to apprehend him during a raid at his Abuja residence.
Reports indicate that he may be hiding in the Kogi State Government House, shielded by current Governor Usman Ododo, who allegedly thwarted the EFCC’s efforts to arrest Bello.
The EFCC is prosecuting Bello for allegedly diverting and laundering N80.2 billion during his tenure as the Kogi State Governor.
