The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled a mock accreditation of voters in Edo State on September 10, as part of its preparations for the upcoming governorship election on September 21.

The exercise will involve the deployment of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices and a test of the results upload to the IReV portal using live voters in selected locations across the state.

Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, disclosed this in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday.

“For this purpose, the commission has designated 12 polling units across six local government areas (LGAs) covering the three senatorial districts of the state as centres for the mock accreditation,” Olumekun stated.

The mock accreditation will be conducted in the following areas:
Edo Central: Eguare Primary School in Eguare 1 and Uwenujie Primary School in Uwenujie, both in Esan Central LGA; and Eguare Primary School 1 in Ewohimi and Eguare Okhuesan (formerly L. A. School 1) in Emu, Esan South East LGA.

-Edo North: Usokwi Iyogbe Azama Primary School in Yeluwa and the polling unit at Institute of Continuing Education Road in Auchi, Etsako West LGA; and Uhonmwora Owere Primary School in Uhonmwora-Ora and Holy Trinity Grammar School in Sabongidda-Ora, Owan West LGA.

Edo South: Western Boys’ High School 1 and Ologbosere Primary School 1 in Ikpoba Okha LGA; and Idia College I and Payne Primary School 1 in Oredo LGA.

The commission noted that the mock exercise will run from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM on September 10. Registered voters are encouraged to participate by bringing their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to the designated polling units.

INEC further clarified that only registered voters at these specific locations are eligible for the exercise, and no voter from another polling unit will be accredited by the BVAS during the mock test.

A comprehensive graphic containing the names and locations of the centers has been made available on INEC’s website and social media platforms.
