The Presidency has strongly denied rumours of a strained relationship between President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, labelling the claims as baseless and malicious.

In a tribute marking Shettima’s 58th birthday, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, highlighted the unwavering trust and support Shettima enjoys from Tinubu, a level of confidence unmatched by any previous vice president in Nigeria’s history.

Nkwocha’s tribute, titled “VP Shettima @ 58: A Boss, Mentor And Quintessential Leader,” also dispelled allegations that Shettima had been sidelined within the Tinubu administration.

“Throughout his political career, Senator Shettima has consistently demonstrated the attributes of an effective leader, inspiring hope and progress at every level he has served,” Nkwocha stated.

He praised Shettima’s leadership qualities, noting that the Vice President has always prioritised the greater good over selfish interests.

Addressing rumours of a fictional rift between the President and his Vice, Nkwocha said, “In the history of Nigeria’s Presidency, no Vice President has enjoyed the total confidence and full support of his principal like Shettima.”

He further stressed Shettima’s unwavering loyalty and dedication to Tinubu, noting, “In a political landscape where loyalty is often tested, Vice President Shettima stands out as a beacon of dedication and commitment to his principal, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Highlighting the Vice President’s impact on the administration, Nkwocha credited Shettima’s background in banking and finance as instrumental in shaping the government’s economic policies.

He lauded the former Borno governor’s advocacy for fiscal discipline, investments in infrastructure, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises, all of which have contributed to economic growth and development.

Nkwocha also underscored Shettima’s passion for social justice, which has led to significant investments in education, healthcare, and social welfare programs.

“As a proud son of the North East, he has ensured that the region’s concerns and aspirations are represented at the highest level of government,” Nkwocha added, pointing out Shettima’s role in promoting regional balance and inclusivity.
