Nigerian singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has made headlines by revealing his contributions to the songwriting behind several hits for his colleague Wizkid during their time at Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).
In a recent appearance on the YouTube show ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask,’ hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Skales disclosed that he co-wrote tracks for Wizkid’s debut album, *Superstar,* including the bonus track “Wiz Party.” He noted the collaborative nature of their work at EME, emphasizing the strong teamwork they shared.
Back in EME, we were a team, so we used to write songs for each other,” Skales explained. “I wrote songs for Wizkid, and he also wrote songs for me. He wrote ‘Mukulu’ for me, and I wrote his song ‘Wiz Party.’ EME was a collective, so we did teamwork.
Skales and Wizkid were among the pioneering artists signed by R&B star and music executive Banky W in the early 2010s, a move that significantly boosted their careers. The record label played a crucial role in bringing both artists into the limelight.
However, both artists eventually departed from EME following a series of disagreements with Banky W. In a prior interview with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Banky W disclosed that Wizkid was contractually obligated to deliver three albums to EME, a situation that contributed to the tensions leading to their exits.
