Miami Beach officials have officially rescinded music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Key to the City, following his recent arrest and a growing list of segxwal assault allegations against him. The decision to strip Diddy of this honorary title, nine years after it was awarded, was reached unanimously during an in-person city commission hearing led by Mayor Steven Meiner.

Diddy originally received the key in 2015 for his contributions to the music industry and his role in founding the Revolt Music Conference in Miami Beach. City commissioners, including Joe Magazine, David Suarez, Tanya Katzoff Bhatt, and Alex Fernandez, sponsored the award to honor his impact on the local and national music scenes.

The move marks the latest step in Miami Beach’s distancing from Diddy; in June, the city revoked “Sean Diddy Combs Day” (formerly October 13) after a troubling assault video surfaced involving Cassie, a former associate. This, coupled with new allegations, prompted officials to reconsider their recognition of the artist and entrepreneur.

Earlier reports suggested Miami Beach had been preparing to strip Diddy of the honor, following a similar move by New York City earlier this year, where he voluntarily returned his Key to the City after a request from Mayor Eric Adams.
