Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, whose tenure ends soon, has responded to reports of a possible Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrest.
Addressing these speculations, Obaseki confidently stated he’s unafraid of any investigation, dismissing the accusations as “silly petitions” rooted in vendetta by “cruel and wicked” opponents.
“I hear that the EFCC will pick me next week after my tenure. Wherever they keep me, I’ll spend time doing research,” he said.
He highlighted his administration’s achievements and legacy, particularly in areas of bureaucratic reform and development, noting, “We focused on Edo people and what mattered to them.”
Obaseki noted that he has no fears about facing the EFCC, adding, “I don’t have anything to hide… they can continue with their political witch hunt.”
He urged Nigerian leaders to prioritize real issues over personal vendettas.
