Outgoing Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki dissolved his cabinet on Friday, just days before the November 12, 2024, inauguration of Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the state’s next governor.
The dissolution of the 2020-2024 Executive Council was initiated during a valedictory session at the Government House in Benin City, where Deputy Governor Godwins Omobayo moved the motion, seconded by Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Osilama Okuofu.
During the session, Obaseki commended his team for their role in his administration’s efforts to “Make Edo Great Again” and expressed gratitude to the people of Edo State for their support and collaboration throughout his eight-year tenure.
Council members took turns to acknowledge Obaseki’s impact in areas like education, economy, agriculture, power, and infrastructure, applauding him for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the state’s growth.
