President Bola Ahmed Tinubu acknowledged on Monday that Nigerians are enduring tough times but assured the nation that better days are ahead.
While affirming his administration’s commitment, he cautioned that meaningful solutions take time and cannot be “as instant as coffee.”
Tinubu, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, made this statement during the 70th birthday celebration of Pastor Tunde Bakare, Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church in Lagos.
Akume expressed the president’s optimism, saying, “The president acknowledges that times are hard, but at the end of it all, there is always light. And solutions to complex problems can never be as instant as coffee, but we are on the right track.”
President Tinubu also praised Pastor Bakare as a spiritual leader and unwavering advocate for truth, whose work has impacted both his followers and the nation.
“I acknowledge your relentless passion for a better Nigeria, a country where equal justice and good government prevails. This celebration is a testament to a life of strength and courage, of powerful messages and fearless advocacy, deep volumes of your dedication to lifting humanity,” he said.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu echoed the president’s sentiments, describing those in public office as “tough men” working tirelessly to guide Nigeria through its current challenges.
He urged Nigerians to keep faith, adding, “It’s tough times, but you see, we are also tough men, and we know that at the end of the tunnel, there will be a bright phase.”
