In preparation for his burial on Friday, the body of Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the late Chief of Army Staff, was transported from Lagos to Abuja on Thursday.
Military officials accompanied the flag-draped casket of the army chief to a military aircraft, ensuring a solemn journey to the capital.
Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, whose passing was announced last week by President Bola Tinubu, died in Lagos following a period of illness.
Born on February 28, 1968, he held the Chief of Army Staff position for over a year after his appointment by President Tinubu in June 2023.
Throughout his service, he was instrumental in key internal security operations, including Operation ZAKI in Benue, Lafiya Dole in Borno, Operation Udoka in the Southeast, and Operation Forest Sanity across Kaduna and Niger States.
