National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has delivered a clear warning to the newly emerged terror group, Lakurawa, operating in Nigeria’s North-West region.
Speaking at the Comptroller General of Customs Conference in Abuja, Ribadu made it clear that under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, the sect will not succeed.
“Their days are numbered,” he warned, urging the group to cease its activities.
“Nobody dares President Bola Tinubu and gets away with it,” Ribadu declared, describing the group’s actions as a grave miscalculation.
This statement comes shortly after the Defence Headquarters confirmed the group’s violent activities, spreading terror in the Northwestern states of Sokoto and Kebbi. Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, highlighted the group’s role in worsening regional insecurity, identifying the Lakurawa as a faction affiliated with terrorists from the Sahel, particularly Mali and Niger Republic.
According to Buba, Lakurawa emerged amid instability from recent coups in Mali and Niger, which have disrupted military cooperation with Nigeria.
In response, the Nigerian military has declared nine key terrorists wanted for their involvement in the ongoing threats.
