President Bola Tinubu has called on candidates dissatisfied with the outcome of the Ondo State governorship election to utilize the judicial system to address their grievances.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu stressed the importance of maintaining orderly conduct during post-election processes.
“Those dissatisfied with the outcome of the election can explore the opportunities provided by the judicial system to seek redress on areas of conflict,” the statement read.
The President extended his congratulations to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his victory, praising the peaceful conduct of the election.
He also commended the candidates of the 17 political parties for their maturity and purpose during the campaigns and election, attributing the success of the process to the civility demonstrated in Ondo State.
President Tinubu lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its efficient handling of the election, noting that the body met public expectations through early preparations, swift deployment of personnel and materials, and a seamless electoral process.
“President Tinubu believes the Ondo State election was another litmus test of the capacity of the Independent National Electoral Commission,” the statement noted.
Tinubu further acknowledged INEC’s remarkable achievement of uploading over 98 per cent of election results on the same day, as well as the professionalism exhibited by security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force, National Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Youth Service Corps, the military, and other outfits in maintaining peace and order.
