The people of Amaeze village in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, have been thrown into mourning as a young man, simply identified as Anaegbuachara, confessed to poisoning his mother, grandmother, sister, and niece to death for a money ritual.
The shocking confession, made on Monday, November 25, 2024, revealed that the suspect laced their food with poison under the instruction of a native doctor. The incident, which initially occurred on Sunday, September 1, 2024, left the community in disbelief.
According to reports, the victims shared a poisoned meal before retiring for the night. One of the victims, Mama Chijioke Amaeze, had been caring for her ailing mother at the time.
Unfortunately, the suspect’s sister and her two children visited that day and also consumed the poisoned food.
“He was instructed to poison and kill his mother only and that same day he was instructed to carry out the devilish act, the grandma, sister, and two sister’s children visited and they all ate the food he poisoned together. That’s how they all died,” wrote Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, an Enugu media personality.
Ugwuanyi further disclosed that the only surviving victim, a nine-year-old, was hospitalized but has since been battling mental instability.
Anaegbuachara reportedly admitted that a native doctor from the Agbani area of Nsukka, originally from Kogi State, provided him with the poison.
A friend, known simply as Morroco, introduced him to the native doctor, who allegedly instructed him to sacrifice his mother for wealth.
In a video shared online, the suspect was paraded around the village and later taken to his mother’s tomb, where he knelt and begged for forgiveness.
The native doctor linked to the crime has since been arrested.
