The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended a notorious fraudster, Bishir Abdullahi, who was caught with 14 stolen ATM debit cards and accused of defrauding victims of over ₦2.7 million.
The arrest occurred at a bank branch in the Tudun Katsira area of Katsina, thanks to the vigilance of an alert police officer. Abdullahi is alleged to have orchestrated a sophisticated scheme involving ATM card swapping and fraudulent withdrawals, preying on unsuspecting customers across the state.
Katsina State Police spokesperson, Sadiq Abubakar, paraded Abdullahi along with other suspects arrested for various crimes at the command’s headquarters on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
According to the PPRO, the 37-year-old suspect had used the stolen ATM cards to withdraw amounts ranging from N49,000 to N900,000 from victims’ bank accounts.
Preliminary investigations linked him to multiple incidents, with a total of N2.7 million stolen.
