Super Eagles and Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has successfully undergone surgery for a torn ligament in his right hand.

The Nigerian shot-stopper confirmed the procedure’s success on Wednesday, expressing gratitude to the medical team and vowing to support his team while focusing on his recovery.

Okoye had played through the injury for the past two months, demonstrating remarkable resilience despite the discomfort.

“Surgery is done,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Big thanks to Dr. Pigoli and his team! Played the last two months with a broken ligament in my hand.

He continued, “For now, I’ll be supporting the team from the stands, recover and work hard for a comeback in top form! See you soon!”

This season, Okoye has been a key figure for Udinese, making 15 appearances and consistently producing standout performances.

On December 7, the club announced that the 24-year-old would need surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his right wrist.
