Ten people lost their lives in a tragic stampede at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja, on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. during the distribution of food items to vulnerable and elderly individuals.
Among the deceased were four children, while eight others sustained injuries.
According to reports, four of the injured have been treated and discharged, while the remaining victims are still receiving medical attention.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, expressed condolences, saying, “The FCT Police Command sympathises with the families of the deceased and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.”
