Nollywood comedian and actor Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has been left overwhelmed as his new movie, The Waiter, hits a new milestone.

Taking to his Instagram page, the star revealed that the movie had grossed N200 million at the box office. The filmmaker stated that the journey has been nothing short of amazing and he couldn’t have achieved this without the support of his audience.

Ayo Makun expressed gratitude to all who have seen the film, shared their thoughts, and spread the word as he noted how their support has made a huge difference and has truly helped to elevate their story.

We are beyond thrilled to announce that The Waiter has grossed an incredible 200 Million Naira at the box office! Against all odds, this journey has been nothing short of amazing, and we couldn’t have achieved this milestone without YOU, our incredible audience.

To everyone who has seen the film, shared their thoughts, and spread the word, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Your support has made a huge difference and has truly helped to elevate this story.

But the journey doesn’t end here! The Waiter is still showing in cinemas nationwide, and we invite you to keep the momentum going. Let’s continue to share the magic of this film with friends and family. Your word of mouth is the best marketing we could ask for.

This news is coming a week after AY cried out over the lack of support from his colleagues. Makun lamented how men only support entities who have Bosom s and bottoms, despite the other gender working hard to stay relevant and uphold their responsibilities. He bragged about being the only man left in filmmaking who has not given up and vows to continue pushing his movie personally.

His post was, however, misinterpreted to be a dig at his female colleagues who are currently breaking records at the box office.

Setting the record straight in another post, AY made it clear that his post had nothing to do with them as they have all supported and encouraged him to date. He stated that his post was aimed at men who are fond of supporting women over their gender. Ayo noted how men support each other; they cultivate a brotherhood that uplifts everyone, allowing them to grow emotionally and mentally.

During his movie premiere, AY had shut down the internet as shared a video of the lineup of Rolls Royce for the premiere.

The comedian had also paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Orohwedor Oborevwori. Sharing photos of his visit, which also included veteran Richard Mofe Damijo, Ay expressed how honored he was as he revealed that he visited the Governor to endorse his movie, The Waiter.

Last year was a winning year for AY, as he got recognized as the Box Office King by the National Film and Video Censors Board NFVCB. The actor expressed how incredibly honored he was to receive the recognition as he noted how the journey wouldn’t be possible without the support of his fans, cast and crew, and everyone who believes in his stories.

In January, the filmmaker bagged an appointment as Creative Goodwill Ambassador for the African Union Sixth Region Global (AU6RG) and Economic Community Africa Sixth Region (ECASR).
