The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Éric Sékou Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
The decision was finalized during an Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, based on the recommendation of the Technical and Development Sub-Committee.
Chelle, 47, is a former Malian international with five caps and a wealth of coaching experience.
He has managed clubs such as GS Consolat, FC Martigues, Boulogne, and MC Oran. He also served as Mali’s national team head coach from 2022, guiding them to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they narrowly lost to hosts Côte d’Ivoire.
The Malian tactician’s appointment takes immediate effect, with his primary mandate being to lead Nigeria to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.
With a proven track record and international pedigree, Chelle is expected to bring a fresh perspective and strategic leadership to the Super Eagles.
