Former Osun State Governor and ex-Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has officially parted ways with the All Progressives Congress (APC), blaming it on unresolved internal conflicts within the party.

Aregbesola, alongside his faction, the Omoluabi Progressives, made the announcement during their monthly meeting held in Ilesa, Osun State, on Sunday.

The group’s Organising and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abosede Oluwaseun, disclosed that the decision to leave was unanimously endorsed by representatives from all 332 wards across the state.

Key grievances outlined by the group included: Ostracisation of their members within the party, suspension and expulsion of key leaders without due process, persistent neglect of their faction’s structure, poor management of intra-party disputes, which they blamed for the APC’s decline in the last governorship election.

During the meeting, members expressed their readiness to align with another political party ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Addressing the gathering, Aregbesola praised members for their loyalty and commitment to principles of integrity and governance.

“I am indeed happy that all of you have spoken with one voice—a united front to lead the way to our collective victory in the journey ahead,” he said.

He expressed confidence in the group’s ability to transform Osun, stating, “We have the numbers, strength, and political acumen to provide leadership that will make Osun the toast of its peers. By the grace of God, we shall succeed.”

The Chairman of Omoluabi Progressives, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, also commended members for their steadfastness. He urged them to remain dedicated to the cause, pledging the group’s commitment to restoring good governance in Osun.

“For us, the journey to reclaim Osun is a joint task. Be assured that we are ready to always accommodate your interests. Let us join hands together to restore Osun to good governance in 2026,” Adesiji concluded.
