Major opposition parties have criticized former President Muhammadu Buhari for urging Nigerians to rely on divine intervention to revive the country, instead of acknowledging the failures of successive All Progressives Congress (APC) administrations.

Buhari made the controversial comment during an APC stakeholders meeting in Katsina on Saturday, where he reportedly said in Hausa, “Only God who created Nigeria can solve the problems of Nigeria.”

Reacting to the remark, Ladipo Johnson, National Publicity Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), said Buhari’s words highlighted the APC-led government’s inability to address the nation’s challenges effectively.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) echoed this sentiment, with its Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, calling the statement an indictment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Labour Party’s National Youth Leader, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, expressed disappointment, saying Buhari’s remarks were unsurprising and underscored the need for younger leaders to rectify past mistakes.
