Presidential media adviser Daniel Bwala has dismissed all his past criticisms of President Bola Tinubu, saying they are now irrelevant.

Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Bwala admitted that his opposition to Tinubu was because of his role in the rival Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I criticised Tinubu’s election and administration in the past because I was in the opposition. The opposition’s work is to criticise the sitting government and hold them accountable. My views changed after I met the President, and he saw a need to appoint me,” he said.

When asked if he had reconsidered the harsh remarks he previously made against Tinubu, Bwala responded, “They are not relevant.”

During the buildup to the 2023 election, Bwala had left the All Progressives Congress (APC) in protest over its Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

He later joined the PDP and became a spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s campaign, frequently attacking Tinubu’s candidacy.

At the time, he likened Tinubu’s potential presidency to “a night of a thousand laughs” and questioned the legitimacy of his victory, calling his administration a “president-select” while accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of election manipulation.

Now serving as a presidential aide, Bwala’s remarks have elicited reactions, with many questioning his political U-turn and his newfound support for the Tinubu administration.
