A 94-year-old nonagenarian, Pa Adedapo Idowu, has taken a bold step towards fulfilling his lifelong ambition by registering for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Idowu, who completed his registration at the JAMB Professional Test Center in Ibadan, Oyo State, revealed his aspiration to study Political Science at the University of Ibadan.

Despite his advanced age, he remains determined to return to school and achieve his dream.

In an interview with journalists, Idowu commended JAMB for the seamless registration process, admitting that his initial fears about enrolling for tertiary education had been put to rest.

He also praised the Board for leveraging technology to simplify the process, particularly through the integration of the National Identity Number (NIN), which enhanced data collection and ensured inclusivity for all candidates, regardless of age or background.

“The staff also gave me a sense of belonging; through the warm reception at the registration venue,” he said.

Encouraging JAMB to sustain its current approach, Idowu expressed confidence in tackling the upcoming examination and achieving success.

Beyond his personal journey, he shared words of wisdom with fellow candidates, stressing the importance of professionalism, contentment, and integrity.

He urged them to shun examination malpractice and embrace diligence and honesty in their academic pursuits.

Idowu further reminded Nigerians that neither age nor adversity should be a barrier to achieving one’s dreams, emphasizing perseverance and determination as keys to overcoming life’s challenges.
