A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Hon. Emeka Atuma, has declared his intention to unseat Governor Alex Otti of the Labour Party (LP) in 2027, vowing to deliver “good governance to Abians.”

Speaking at a strategic APC stakeholders’ meeting in Abia Central, held at his Ntalakwu, Oboro Ikwuano country home, Atuma criticized Otti’s leadership style, arguing that under the current administration, “the governed are blindfolded on the affairs of the state,” as reported by Vanguard.

He pledged to change the narrative if elected.

Describing Otti’s government as “an accidental government,” Atuma assured that his leadership would drive accelerated development in Abia.

He argued that an APC-led administration would be built on “transparency, good governance, and human capital development.”

Addressing concerns that the APC is anti-Igbo, Atuma dismissed such claims, urging Abians to align with the ruling party at the center.

He maintained that the APC “does not hate Ndigbo but promotes the interest of the people.”

Deputy leader of the forum, Hon. Uzoma Ihuka, charged party members to remain united to dislodge the ruling LP in the state.

Similarly, former state APC Chairman and current National Welfare Secretary, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, welcomed new members to the party, noting that the growing membership signified wider acceptance of the APC in Abia.

Former Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Obinna Oriaku, also weighed in, noting that Otti’s administration had “performed below expectations” and urging Abians to support the APC in 2027.

In a communique issued after the meeting, stakeholders passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, praising his commitment to Nigeria’s economic restoration.

They also commended the Abdullahi Ganduje-led APC national leadership for its efforts in repositioning the party across the country.

The forum assured new members of equal opportunities at all levels, promising an equitable distribution of democratic dividends.
