All police escorts assigned to Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, have been allegedly withdrawn, leaving both her and the Assembly complex without security cover.
Confirming the development, Victor Ganzallo, the Speaker’s Special Adviser on Information, raised alarm over the sudden withdrawal of security personnel.
“As we speak, all security has been withdrawn from the Speaker, and she is now on her own,” Ganzallo lamented, warning that the Speaker is now “vulnerable and open to attack.”
The reason behind the abrupt security withdrawal remains unclear, as neither the Lagos State Police Command nor the state government has released an official statement on the matter.
With the Lagos Assembly premises now left unguarded, concerns are mounting over the safety of government officials and the potential security risks posed by this development.
