Speaking in a recent interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Channels TV, Wright emphasized the importance of a mother’s presence in her children’s lives, especially during crucial stages of their growth.
“There’s a time in a woman’s life and the children’s lives where they need you more than ever,” she said. “My children are abroad, so I had to leave everything to take care of them. You don’t want to leave your children with just anybody, especially at a certain age.”
The actress also touched on the sacrifices mothers make, highlighting the challenges women face in raising their children and even taking on traditional roles like Omugwo (postnatal care for daughters).
Mothers will always be mothers,” she noted. “I’m not faulting any man for being a father, but as we say in Yoruba, ‘Iya ni iya mi, Baba ni baba gbogbo aye’—meaning, my mother is my mother, but a father can be a father to many.”
Wright reassured her fans that she is now fully back in the movie industry, ready to take on new projects. “I didn’t fall out of love with acting,” she said. “There are still lots of things I’m looking forward to doing.”
