National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has disclosed that the party has a strategic blueprint aimed at reclaiming Oyo and Osun states from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by 2027.
Ganduje made this declaration on Wednesday while officially welcoming Dr. (Colonel) Gbenga Adegbola (rtd) into the APC.
Both states, located in the South West—President Bola Tinubu’s home region—were once strongholds of the ruling party.
Ganduje declared that securing victory in Oyo and Osun would establish what he described as “political homogeneity” for the APC in the zone.
“Our blueprint for the South West geo-political zone for 2027 is tagged ‘political homogeneity,’” he said.
“In other words, the South West, according to our blueprint, we will work hard and, with the help of Allah (SWT) and the people of the state, Oyo will be an APC state in 2027. Another state in the zone that is off the hook– Osun State, In Sha Allahu, will also be an APC state. That is what we mean by political homogeneity.”
Assuring Adegbola of full inclusion in the party, Ganduje said, “We thank you for coming to APC, and we assure you that you are now a full member of our party.
“By this declaration, you have the privilege, opportunities, and the chance to contest for any position in the party. If you decide to contest an election, an enabling environment is guaranteed. You are free to contest for any office you so wish.”
Speaking to journalists after his meeting with Ganduje and other members of the APC National Working Committee, Adegbola, who claimed to have over 10,000 followers, pledged to collaborate with stakeholders in Oyo State to secure victory for the party in the 2027 general elections, particularly in the governorship race.
“Without much ado, I want to thank the Almighty God for bringing us this far. I want to wholeheartedly and highly commit to the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President. We will do everything possible to make sure that we make Oyo State by 2027 an APC state,” he declared.
