
The Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri (Elem Kalabari) in Rivers State, Da Amakiri Tubo, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari, Dabaye Amakiri I, has been appointed as the President-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (Ameer Muminin) for the South East and South South regions.
The appointment was announced during a visit by the leadership of the Eastern and Southern Nigeria Islamic Council to his palace in Elem Kalabari.
Vice President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Dr. Haroun Ogbonnia Ajah, described him as a leading light in Islam, highlighting his commitment to the faith since the 1980s, as well as his contributions to building mosques and supporting Muslim communities across Nigeria.
In his acceptance speech, Asari Dokubo assured that his leadership would focus on uplifting Muslims, particularly in economic empowerment.
He also urged prayers for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing the need for good governance.
The visit concluded with prayers for Nigeria’s unity, peace, and progress.
