
A high-profile delegation of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), led by its President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, paid a courtesy visit to former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to formally present the burial plans for the late Pa Dr. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.
The delegation, which included Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Chairman of the National Burial Committee; Engr. Ebipamowei Wodu, INC National Secretary; and Chief Ebikeme Clark, eldest son of the late Ijaw leader, met with Dr. Jonathan to seek his support and blessing for the funeral arrangements.
Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, while presenting the detailed burial schedule, emphasized that the plans were carefully developed in consultation with the Clark family to ensure a befitting final farewell for the Grand Commander of the Niger Delta Struggle.
Dr. Jonathan warmly received the delegation, expressing his unwavering commitment to honoring Pa Dr. Edwin Clark’s legacy. He assured the delegation of his full support in ensuring that the burial reflects the immense contributions of the late leader to the Ijaw people and the nation at large.
Speaking after the meeting, the INC President, Prof. Okaba, noted that the visit marked a significant step in coordinating efforts to give Pa Clark a funeral befitting his stature.
“As we left Dr. Jonathan’s residence, we were united in our shared purpose—to honor a true legend of the Ijaw nation whose legacy will continue to inspire generations,” Chief Lulu-Briggs remarked.
The burial of Pa Dr. Edwin K. Clark is expected to be a landmark event, bringing together key stakeholders from across Nigeria to pay their final respects to a man regarded as a pillar of the Niger Delta struggle.
