In a controversial move, the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, has approved the appointment of Administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of the state despite a subsisting order of the Federal High Court barring him from doing so.
The appointments, alongside the reconstitution of certain Boards of Agencies, Commissions, and Parastatals previously suspended, were announced in a government statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika.
According to the announcement, all appointments are to take effect from Monday, April 7, 2025.
The move has sparked debate in political and legal circles, raising concerns about constitutional overreach and potential contempt of court.
