A 19-year-old, Opesusi Faith Timilehin, miserably took her own life on Monday by ingesting ‘Push Out’ rodent poison after scoring 190 in the recently released Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) results.

Timilehin, who lived with her elder sibling at Odogunyan in Ikorodu, Lagos State, reportedly fell into despair over her score, which she considered too low for her desired course, Microbiology. A family source revealed that she had also taken the exam last year and felt her previous score was better.

“She said her last year’s result was better than this year’s,” one of her close friends disclosed.

Neighbours became concerned when Timilehin showed up at her elder sister’s office asking for palm oil to ease the discomfort caused by the poison she had taken at home. Her sister, unaware of the situation at first, reportedly ignored the request until Timilehin’s condition worsened, prompting a frantic call for help.

An eyewitness recounted that Timilehin admitted to consuming the poison while being rushed to the hospital, where she was later confirmed dead at Kolak Hospital in Odogunyan, Ikorodu.

In a tragic twist, Timilehin received a provisional admission notice from JAMB just 30 minutes after her death, delivered via her Gmail.

“The shocking revelation is that she was given an admission message via her Gmail yesterday, immediately after she was confirmed dead at Kolak Hospital, Odogunyan, Ikorodu, Lagos,” the source added.

Following the tragic incident, Timilehin’s parents reportedly rushed to Ikorodu to collect her remains for burial in Abeokuta, while heartbroken residents condemned JAMB for the unfortunate timing of the admission message.
