Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that a coalition of political parties is actively working to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Katsina State on Wednesday, El-Rufai confirmed that a crucial meeting of the coalition took place in Abuja on Tuesday evening, with the singular objective of ensuring Tinubu is not re-elected.

“Yesterday at 8 pm, there was a very important meeting of the coalition to ensure that President Tinubu goes back to Lagos,” El-Rufai said.

Reports suggest that key opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, and El-Rufai himself, have thrown their weight behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the chosen platform for the emerging opposition alliance.

Despite his stance against the current administration, El-Rufai had words of commendation for one of Tinubu’s cabinet members—Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani—whom he believes should be retained even under a new leadership.

Speaking at the Arewa TechFest in Katsina on Wednesday, the former governor said, “Though, we will still keep Bosun Tijani, we will still keep the minister because he is doing a good work.”
