Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reportedly ordered his commissioners and political appointees to either join him in defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or resign from their positions immediately.

The directive was said to have been issued during a State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting held on Thursday, where the governor openly confirmed his imminent departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to insider sources that spoke to Vanguard, Governor Eno was unapologetically blunt in his stance, declaring.

“Anybody who claims he is not aware of my intention to leave the PDP is still living in the 18th century.”

The governor revealed that his decision was informed by his admiration for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style, expressing a desire to align more closely with the Federal Government.

He didn’t mince words about his expectations, warning appointees that there would be no room for fence-sitting or internal opposition.

“Apart from elected officials like House of Assembly members and Local Government Chairmen, I have nothing to negotiate with you,” he said.

He further issued a clear message to those who might consider remaining in the PDP as a platform to challenge his political influence.

“Let me tell you, anybody who believes that when I leave the PDP he will use the party structure to fight me is lying, because I will still control the PDP structure.”
