Popular Kannywood actress Mansura Isa has opened up about the sudden and painful end of her second marriage, describing the experience as “shocking” and akin to a dramatic movie plot.
Speaking during an interview on BBC Hausa’s Mahangar Zamani alongside veteran actress Fati Mohammad, Mansura recounted how she was deceived into marriage by a man she believed truly loved her. Instead, she later discovered he allegedly exploited their relationship to pursue a personal financial agenda.
I married for love, but it turns out he had a different intention,” Mansura lamented. “He used marriage as a cover to hijack a multi-billion naira contract I was handling.”
The actress explained that she met her second husband through an uncle while processing a deal in Lagos. With no representative available in the city, she sought his help to oversee the agreement. Their professional engagement quickly turned romantic, and he proposed unexpectedly.
I thought he was genuine. We got married at night, and the next morning, he left for Lagos,” she revealed.
Shockingly, Mansura said he returned during the wedding with a contract agreement, demanding she sign over control of the ₦4 billion deal to him, citing their marital relationship. He subsequently cut her off entirely and stopped answering calls. Despite multiple confrontations by concerned individuals, he reportedly claimed to have “forgotten he was married” before eventually issuing a divorce under pressure.
Her comments came as co-guest Fati Mohammad addressed the widespread belief that Kannywood actresses struggle to maintain stable marriages. Fati argued that women across all walks of life experience failed unions, but public scrutiny intensifies when celebrities are involved.
Some men marry actresses out of lust. Once they get what they want, they abandon the marriage,” Fati said. “People also wrongly assume that actresses are too used to luxury to endure marriage, but the reality is more complex.”
Mansura’s second marriage sparked public interest in June 2024, months after her split from actor Sani Danja, her first husband and father of their four children: Iman, Khalifa, Sultan, and Sudais. Their marriage had once been held up as an example of stability within the industry.
Videos from her second wedding, showing a bride price of ₦1 million, had gone viral. But that fairy tale has since ended.
Despite the betrayal, Mansura said she has come to terms with the experience.
“I’ve accepted my fate,” she concluded. “It was painful, but I’ve learned my lesson.”
