The Super Eagles camp in London is gathering momentum ahead of the 2025 Unity Cup, with ten home-based players already in the United Kingdom for the invitational tournament.
The competition, which features Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago, will be staged at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford.
Among the early arrivals are Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Junior Nduka, Sodiq Ismaila, Waliu Ojetoye, Papa Mustapha, Collins Ugwueze, Saviour Isaac, Sikiru Alimi, and Abubakar Adamu.
They are joined by veteran forward Ahmed Musa, who is currently on the books of Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, who has blended local talents with foreign-based stars for this tournament, will be hoping the early arrival of the home-based contingent helps build cohesion ahead of Nigeria’s opening match.
The three-time African champions will lock horns with familiar rivals Ghana on Wednesday, 28 May, in a fixture that carries historic rivalry and continental pride.
The Unity Cup is designed to promote football and cultural unity among African and Caribbean nations.
With fixtures scheduled from 27 to 31 May, the tournament offers a platform for NPFL players to compete alongside their Europe-based counterparts and stake a claim for future international opportunities.
Chelle’s decision to include ten domestic league players highlights the growing quality within the NPFL and the importance of nurturing local talent.
The squad also features international regulars like Moses Simon, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Samuel Chukwueze, with more players expected to arrive in camp in the coming hours.
