Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has formally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), following what he described as “three months of wide consultation” with stakeholders across the state.
Governor Eno made the announcement on Friday in Uyo, expressing appreciation to the PDP for their support during his time in office but noting it was time to make a “progressive move.”
He said, “After completing the rounds of my consultation as your servant whom you have elected to serve, I have therefore decided to progressively move to the APC.”
According to Eno, the decision was influenced by his admiration for President Bola Tinubu and a desire to align Akwa Ibom State with the federal government to ensure sustained development and benefits.
Despite the party switch, the governor reassured Akwa Ibom residents that his commitment to serving them would remain unwavering.
Notable APC governors present at the event included Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, alongside Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State’s Dapo Abiodun, Delta’s Sheriff Oborevwori, Ebonyi’s Francis Nwifuru, and Cross River’s Bassey Otu, among others.
