Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking with the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of a large quantity of cannabis sativa, commonly known as skunk.

Acting on credible intelligence, NDLEA officers apprehended Iriemi Imonikhe, 49, and Sa’idu Ladan, 30, along the Bauchi-Jos highway. The suspects were caught transporting a staggering 287 kilograms of skunk concealed in the trunk and seats of a Toyota Camry bearing registration number AKL 201 GG.

During the operation, officers uncovered 195 blocks of the illicit substance, tightly packed and hidden in a manner designed to evade detection.

The NDLEA has confirmed that the suspects are in custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. Spokesperson for the agency stated that the seizure marks another success in the agency’s intensified crackdown on drug distribution networks across Nigeria.

The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
