Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has hinted at contesting the 2027 presidential election, promising to launch a tough fight against corruption if elected.
This is contained in a post made available on a popular social media platform, X, formally Twitter.
Speaking in Hausa during a public address, Atiku declared: “I swear to God, if elected, whoever steals or engages in any corruption-related activities, we will declare war against them and they must be punished.”
Atiku, who contested the 2023 election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is now a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.
Although he is yet to formally announce his defection from the PDP, his active involvement in the opposition coalition suggests a shift in political alignment.
The ADC-led coalition recently named former Senate President David Mark as its Interim National Chairman and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as Interim National Secretary, signaling a major restructuring ahead of 2027.
