Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has revealed that Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has expressed regret over their public fallout during the October 2020 EndSARS protests.
Speaking in a recent interview on The Esther Show, Reekado opened up about the heated exchange that followed the release of their collaborative song Omo Olomo.
At the time, Wizkid slammed Reekado on social media, calling him a “fool” and a “clout animal” for announcing the song’s release during the height of nationwide protests against police brutality.
According to Reekado, the decision to drop the track wasn’t entirely his. “It was my management that insisted on releasing the song at that time. I was actually against it,” he said.
He added that the two artistes have since reconciled after Wizkid paid him a visit at his restaurant. “We had a little talk and he was a little regretful about it. He said he shouldn’t have gone that route,” Reekado revealed.
The singer noted that Wizkid also reflected on other industry fallouts and expressed empathy, mentioning that all three of them — himself, Wizkid, and Don Jazzy, had recently lost their mothers.
“We’re good now,” Reekado stated.
