Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has dismissed the potential of a joint ticket between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, declaring it no match for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Prime Time programme on Thursday, Onanuga maintained that Tinubu’s performance in office will speak for itself, and insisted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not consider the opposition coalition a serious challenge.
“They are free to form alliances but as far as the APC is concerned we are not seeing them as any threat…If you merge Peter Obi and Atiku together, there is no way the two of them can beat a Bola Tinubu and Shettima ticket. It is going to be impossible.
“They are jumping the gun, it is not yet time for politicking,” he said.
His comments follow the announcement that the opposition coalition, which includes Atiku, Obi, former governors Rauf Aregbesola and Nasir El-Rufai, and ex-Senate President David Mark, has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform for the 2027 elections.
