
The independent Electoral Commission has commenced a Refresher Training for Political Party Officials on ICNP.
They made a post on the official Inec handle on X formerly twitter.
”The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has kicked off a Refresher Training for Political Party Officials on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP), with a warm welcome address delivered by Hon. National Commissioner and Chairperson LSC&CC, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu. “Nomination of candidates is the foundation of any election. Without candidates, there can be no elections,” she emphasized, noting that errors in candidate submissions could have serious consequences for parties and aspirants alike. With INEC’s commitment to deploying technology for electoral integrity, the ICNP has streamlined the nomination process, reduced paperwork, and boosted compliance. This training ensures all parties are well-prepared for upcoming FCT and bye-elections. Training Objectives (By Samuel Omale, AD-LD&C): Refresh understanding of candidate nomination guidelines Equip officials for FCT & bye-election nominations Provide hands-on ICNP training Clarify grey areas in the nomination process Demonstration and provision of hands-on practical knowledge on how to make timely submissions of nominated candidates on the ICNP. The session is split into two batches over two days to enhance engagement and ensure effective learning.”
After the President Bola Tinubu appointed a new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Bashiru Olamilekan, replacing Professor Mahmood Yakubu whose tenure has just expired.
The Electoral body has started taking steps to ensure a credible election in 2027 hopefully.
