
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, son of former military president Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, as the new Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).
The appointment was announced on Friday via a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Onanuga confirmed that Babangida’s appointment was among several others approved by the president, with some appointees designated as chairmen or directors-general of various federal agencies.
“Some of them will serve as chairmen or directors-general of Federal agencies,” he said.
According to the statement, Muhammad Babangida holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland.
He also completed the Executive Program on Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.
The statement also listed other key appointments made by the President:
• Lydia Kalat Musa (Kaduna State) — Chairman, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA)
• Jamilu Wada Aliyu (Kano State) — Chairman, National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC)
• Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa (Kano State) — Chairman, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON)
• Sanusi Musa (SAN, Kano State) — Chairman, Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR)
• Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu (Sokoto State) — Director-General, Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA)
Other newly appointed officials include:
• Sanusi Garba Rikiji — Director-General, Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN)
• Tomi Somefun — Managing Director, National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC)
• Abdulmumini Aminu-Zaria — Executive Director, Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC)
