The National Sports Commission (NSC), led by Chairman Shehu Dikko, has appointed Opus Racing Promotions as Nigeria’s official representative in its bid to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix in Abuja.

Dikko has also invited F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton, and top circuit designers Tilke Engineers & Architects to visit Nigeria and meet key stakeholders.

Our goal is to bring Formula 1 to Nigeria not just as a sport, but as a driver of tourism, infrastructure, youth development, and economic growth,” Dikko said.

The bid is spearheaded by ex-Premier League player Marvin Sordell, with growing support from both local and international partners.

If the bid becomes successful, Nigeria will be the first African country to host an F1 Grand Prix since South Africa did in 1993.
