Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, says President Bola Tinubu has successfully pulled Nigeria “out of the bush and to the roadside,” setting the country on a path toward recovery and growth.
Uzodimma made the statement on Wednesday during a solidarity visit by governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the party’s National Chairman to the Plateau State Council of Chiefs in Jos.
“In this country called Nigeria, we have come a long way. Leaders have come and gone. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is barely two years in office. All the cheats, all the rots, all the troubles—poverty, hardship, high cost of living, fuel scarcity—were heaped on his head, I can tell you, within two years in office, at least Nigeria, which was in the bush, has been brought out to the road. So, we can now move,” Uzodimma said.
While acknowledging the economic hardship Nigerians are still grappling with, the governor maintained that the Tinubu administration is steering the country in the right direction.
“I am not unaware that the process of healing came with some pain. I am not unaware that people at the grassroots are facing difficulties. I am not unaware that the economy, once in the bush, is now ready to grow. But I have come to tell you that history and this country have challenged us to repair all these wounds,” he added.
Addressing the Council of Chiefs, Uzodimma highlighted the importance of Professor Yilwatda Nentawe’s emergence as the new APC National Chairman, describing it as a major win for Plateau State.
“Your son has now become a key figure in our journey towards justice and progress. Only your continued support, cooperation, and prayers will enable him to succeed. His success is our success. Therefore, our collective prayer is for this new Chairman to succeed in his role.
“We are here to show our solidarity and support to your son and to join you in thanking Almighty God who made this possible. I assure you that the choice of Professor Nentawe as the Chairman of our party is not just a responsibility but evidence of his sincerity to do politics that is not based on religion, ethnicity, or primordial sentiments but to correct the errors of the past,” Uzodimma stated.
