Kidnappers operating in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State met unexpected trouble on Monday when their getaway vehicle crashed, forcing them to abandon both ransom money and firearms.
The incident happened in the early hours at Angwan Mayo, along the Kokona axis, when the gang’s Peugeot 406, reportedly loaded with weapons, veered off the road shortly after collecting ransom from their victims.
Eyewitnesses said the kidnappers quickly fled the scene.
Security analyst Zagazolo Makama confirmed that the suspects escaped on foot, leaving behind the cash and arms.
Troops of the Nigerian Army later secured the vehicle and recovered the abandoned items, while security forces have since intensified their pursuit of the fleeing criminals.
